How We Got Started
A plant obsession that turned into a shop built for people just getting started.
The Short Version
My name is Joey, and I got hooked on houseplants a couple years ago and haven't looked back. What started with a silver stripe philodendron from a local plant store down the street from my apartment turned into a full collection, a homemade greenhouse cabinet, and eventually this shop. Next thing I knew I was learning all the names of plants and collecting more and more for myself.
I started My Happy House Plants because I was tired of two options: overpaying at boutique plant shops, or gambling on big box store plants that could have an infestation ready to wreck my entire collection. I wanted to build the plant shop that should already exist. Great plants, fair prices, and real support to help you keep them alive.
My Plant Journey
It started with a silver stripe philodendron I picked up from a local plant store down the street. Before long I was learning every species name I could, filling my apartment with plants, and spending way too much time on plant forums at 2am.
Now I'm growing corms, propagating cuttings, and mastering tissue cultures in homemade self-watering cups. The obsession just keeps going.
I'm not a botanist or a horticulturist. I'm a plant lover who's a few steps ahead on the same journey, and I want to help you skip the hard part and go straight to the joy.
